As well as encouraging digital innovation across the University and supporting it from incubation to service roll-out or commercial exploitation, there is also an urgent need to keep abreast of new developments, be able to react to them in a timely way, and encourage such approaches in service managers.The Business Analyst (Digital Innovation) role reports to the Head of Digital Innovation and is part of the Digital Innovation Team in the central IT Services of the University. This team supports early stage innovation and promotes the exploration of new technologies across the University. Your role is to support business analysis activities that promote new technologies, liaise with senior managers, academics, and students to promote innovation (invention and exploitation of existing tools), and network with other innovation centres across the University and City. You will help create and you will project manage a portfolio of new innovation initiatives. We see this as an important area for the future of IT at Oxford. You will be working closely with the Head of Digital Innovation and other members of the department and University. Your enthusiasm for digital innovation and your ability to keep track and explore new technologies will see you supporting activities that will drive digital innovation, and raise the profile of the department in this area. You will have project management responsibilities and you will ensure that business benefits will be delivered to multiple areas across the university through enhanced use of technology and improved business processes. Responsibilities To support the Head of Digital Innovation leading business analysis activities to embed digital innovation across the university. To ensure best practise is delivered, maintained and shared. Selection criteria Essential selection criteria Candidates will be judged on the basis of the following criteria, and should ensure that their application shows how they meet these criteria: 1. A high level of general education to degree level or equivalent 2. Some business analysis experience, exposure to business process analysis and re-engineering. 3. Experience of working on configuring software packages as well as working on a variety of projects. 4. Experience of all stages of the project lifecycle including defining and documenting user requirements, carrying out system testing and assisting with user acceptance testing. 5. Experience of negotiation skills, for example in defining the scope of work and agreeing user requirements. 6. Proven analysis and innovative problem-solving skills. 7. Proven ability to plan and take responsibility for a range of tasks involving interaction with and the co-operation of business and IT people, including the agreement of technical solutions. 8. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to relate confidently and effectively to users at all levels. 9. Confident use of the Microsoft™ Office toolset, email, web browsers and social media 10. Proven track record of managing their own work successfully, and of working effectively as part of a wider team.
