The postholder will also provide administrative assistance with the implementation of international development work, including that of the Blavatnik School of Government. This research will contribute to the development of the Global Goals on Education through the production of evidence as a global good. Reporting to and working directly with Dr Rachel Hinton, the postholder will help produce evidence products such as joint articles, literature reviews, blogs and case studies. The post holder will also collate details on worldwide events and conferences that are relevant to education and development, and support with diary appointments, travel and events. Responsibilities • Manage production of evidence products and administrative activities, within guidelines provided by senior colleagues. • Produce presentations for national and international conferences that will require analysis of qualitative and quantitative data from a variety of sources, and an assessment of the key policy implications. • Input into specialist methodologies required to advance understanding of education service delivery, equity in education and accountability. Organise dissemination of research, including the identification and participation in key local, regional and global events. • Produce data visualisations and link to partner initiatives, including with IIEP UNESCO and OurWorld in Data. • Support completion of articles as a ‘finisher-completer’ with data analysis, technical editing and referencing for high quality journals. • Support the visibility of research, including production of blogs on international education, equity and service delivery that catalyse debate with the wider development community. Organised tracking of activity and uptake. • Support the MPP events on education, including the contacting of potential hosts and follow up to ensure clear TORs for placements. • Support the MPP students with summer project placement and academic engagement with Dr Rachel Hinton. • Support local community events to promote the Blavatnik School of Government and research in education. • Summarise key research on a monthly basis and contribute ideas for new research projects. • Responsibility for administrative travel support, including visas and logistics and agendas that will require links to international partners. • Responsible for the day-to-day administration: saving, printing and filing documents, and producing briefing packs for key meetings and events; supporting with Dr Rachel Hinton’s diary management within the Blavatnik School; and sourcing articles and research. Selection criteria Essential selection criteria • Hold a first degree in economics, politics, development or a related discipline, together with some relevant experience. • Possess sufficient specialist knowledge in governance, education and international development to work within established research programmes. • Proven track record of strong writing and being a ‘finisher completer’ to tight timeframes. • Ability to manage own research and administrative tasks efficiently. • Ability to undertake statistical analysis and experience of following and adapting methodologies. • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to write text that can be published, analysis of data, and ability to represent the research group at October 2024 2 meetings. • A systematic, thorough, and well-organised approach to work with the ability to work on a variety of tasks at the same time, including coping with unpredictable volumes of work, busy periods and tight deadlines. • A flexible can-do approach, self-motivation, and resilience with evidence of the ability to adapt to the changing needs and priorities of the role. Desirable selection criteria • Working toward a doctorate in economics, development, politics, or a related discipline. • Experience of publishing articles and contributing to research publications. • Experience of working in a research team and contributing ideas for new research projects.
