The role The University of Oxford is embarking on a significant digital transformation initiative aimed at enhancing its digital communications. The Transforming Oxford’s Digital Communications Programme focuses on creating secure, flexible, and scalable digital platforms that will better serve internal and external audiences. The programme is pivotal to the University’s mission to support academic excellence through effective communication tools and platforms. A key part of this programme is migrating digital content from the central University Administration and Services (UAS), which is currently spread across a number of disparate platforms, from those platforms due to go out of support in late 2026. This new role will play a critical part in the delivery of the programme by planning and leading the migration of UAS content from the outgoing platforms to the new platforms whilst enabling UAS to continue to operate and deliver. The role holder will need ensure migrated content is designed in a user-centric way and facilitate feedback from UAS to support ongoing development of the new platforms. Whilst this role formally sits within the IT Services department, reporting to the Portfolio Business Change Manager, and being part of the wider Business Change and Communications Team, much of your interactions will be with the UAS division as they migrate their content, with whom you can be colocated with in the office. This is a dynamic role in which the role holder will work closely with colleagues in the UAS division, in particular the UAS divisional communications lead to whom the role will report for task setting on a day-to-day basis, as well as other members of the Migration Project Team, for example those who will be planning and coordinating the overall migration plan. Responsibilities • • • • • • • • • • • • Support the divisional communications lead to oversee and manage the migration of UAS content currently hosted on SharePoint and the Drupal 7-based Mosaic and OxWeb platforms to the new OxWeb, Fresco and OxIntranet platforms. Liaise with content/site owners to understand the size, scope and requirements of migrating sites, and Migration Tranche coordinators to agree allocation of each site to the most appropriate migration tranche. Provide feedback on any further needs for platform development required to support content migration and future adoption of the new platforms. Support communications to site and content owners to ensure they have the information needed to complete their migration responsibilities. Support identification and fulfilment of local migration resource requirements. Support site/content owners in completing site audits which will determine the destination platform(s) for content per the University’s Content Strategy and enable content to be made ready for migration. Advocate for the development of compelling, accessible and user-focused web and intranet content design that meets the user experience ambitions of the University. Oversee divisional migration progress, providing progress updates via the Migration Project Team and migration tracking tool. Identify and report risks and concerns related to migration planning, progress, resourcing, and engagement to the Migration Project and support the identification of mitigating actions. Support the implementation of local migration governance processes. Participate in the Migration Working Group to support the above responsibilities and share lessons learned with the other Migration Coordinators. Support the move to business as usual over the course of the project, including developing management and governance processes. Selection criteria Essential selection criteria 1.
