<div> The Faculty of Medieval and Modern Languages, and the Faculty of Linguistics, Philology and Phonetics are seeking to appoint a (0.5FTE) Linux specialist to join their IT team for a period of 2 years from 1 August 2012 or as soon as possible thereafter.<br><br>The postholder will: monitor and maintain the current Linux server and desktop systems; maintain the existing Ubuntu package repository, and create new Ubuntu packages as necessary; research, develop and deploy new versions of Ubuntu Server and Desktop; continue the development of the Faculties' mission critical Linux server system; and undertake first and second level diagnosis and resolution of common Linux faults.<br><br>Applicants should possess a degree and/or relevant experience in a relevant field; and should have proven experience in Linux server administration and desktop support. They should possess good inter-personal and problem solving skills.<br><br>The closing date for this vacancy is 12 noon on Monday 13 August 2012.<br><br>All applicants must consult the further particulars which are available below.
