We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to play a lead role in managing the Bodleian Libraries’ digital infrastructure. The role is one of three that will form a new team within BDLSS tasked with managing the Library’s Unix/Linux based infrastructure. This is an exciting time of change for the libraries, with digital services playing an ever increasing role in the delivery of innovative services to readers, researchers and the wider community.<br><br>The successful applicant will have responsibility for architecting, installing, configuring and administering the Unix/Linux servers and virtual environments that support the Library’s core services. They will be responsible for the security, system integrity, back-ups and disaster recovery planning. They will also be responsible for system patching, performance analysis and tuning.<br><br>Applications are invited from experienced Unix/Linux administrators with a strong background in virtualized environments, preferably VMWare ESX. You should have proven technical ability, problem solving skills and be a structured and logical thinker able to propose and deliver efficient and effective solutions and be forward-thinking, with proven system architecture design and system administration.<br><br>This vacancy is fixed term for 2 years.<br><br>Only applications received before midday on Wednesday 24 October 2012 can be considered.
