A senior statistician is required to work with the Statistics group in the Department of Primary Care Health Sciences (PCHS) and the Centre for Statistics in Medicine (CSM) in developing new methodology to assess the impact of Variation in Measurement on Clinical Decision Making. The post will be funded for 2 years in the first instance and is primarily based in PCHS with a 60/40 (PCHS/CSM) work split. <br><br>This post is one of three (Statistics, Health Economics, & Large Database epidemiology) created as part of a methodological programme within the Oxford BRC Prevention and Population strand which is led by Professor Richard Hobbs (Head of Department, PCHS). The postholder will work under the supervision of Dr Rafael Perera (PCHS) and Professor Doug Altman (CSM) and Professor Hobbs as Theme Lead. <br><br>The senior statistician will lead the programme on impact of variation in measurement on clinical decision making, as a statistical modeller and as a project manager in collaboration with Professors Hobbs and Altman, Dr Perera and colleagues. As well as planning and implementing the research programme, the senior statistician will be expected to extend the programme by seeking additional funding for supplementary projects, and recruiting and supervising junior staff and students as needed to implement them. <br><br>With a PhD in statistics or equivalent experience, you will have experience working as a medical statistician and strong mathematical statistics and computing skills to develop and plan new methodology in the area.
