THIS VACANCY IS FOR INTERNAL APPLICATIONS ONLY.<br><br>The Bodleian Libraries seek to appoint a full-time Project Officer to lead the forthcoming bar-coding operations in the Bodleian Library of Commonwealth and African Studies at Rhodes House. The postholder is responsible for supervising a team of barcoders who are working on preparing library material that will be moved to off-site storage. This will involve taking responsibility for the efficient operation of the bar-coding processes and scheduling project work according to available resources and priorities to ensure the project is completed within the timeframe.<br><br>The tasks will be varied but will require a high level of motivation, attention to detail, problem solving skills, and a genuine interest in bibliographic work with a wide range of material. Familiarity of using Aleph and of modern cataloguing standards is essential and experience of project planning and delivery is desirable.<br><br>This is a fixed-term appointment for six months in the first instance. Secondment opportunities will be considered but you must have approval from your line manager before applying and some part-time working may be possible in the first month.<br><br>Due to the nature of this post, candidates will be required to undertake a Disclosure Scotland check as well as a financial background check. The possession of a criminal record or poor financial background will not necessarily prevent an applicant from obtaining this post, as all cases are judged individually according to the nature of the role and information provided.<br><br>Only applications received before midday on Friday 2 November 2012 can be considered.
