An opportunity has arisen to join an innovative and exciting research team in
Oxford. The main research focus will be the development of a programme of work
around self-monitoring in pregnancy. The post will also provide an opportunity
to work on other projects concerned with cardiovascular disease and its
prevention.

This new post is being created to support research around pregnancy and
cardiovascular disease in primary care, in particular examining self-
monitoring of blood pressure in high risk pregnancy. Professor Richard McManus
leads the team researching risk factors for cardiovascular disease (including
an internationally recognised programme of work around hypertension monitoring
and management) as well as cardiovascular disease itself. The aim of this new
post will be to work with Professor McManus and the research team at Oxford to
deliver a pilot study of hypertension in pregnancy with the aim of developing
a larger trial.

The successful applicant will have experience of clinical research and/or
delivering antenatal care, preferably with experience in primary care. They
will assist in:
• The development, set-up and running of a prospective study of self-
monitoring blood pressure in pregnancy. This will include setting up study
centres recruiting women and collecting follow up data.
• The development of new research strands around self-monitoring in pregnancy.

This position would be particularly suited to a midwife or research midwife
that wishes to develop further their research skills in a highly prestigious
and competitive environment.

The post is full-time for 1 year in the first instance (part-time will be
considered).

anticipate interviews will be held on 14 December.
