The aim of the Project is to scan cards and slips from the physical map and music catalogues, then capture the data from the cards by keyboarding. The ensuing database will be made available online and the data ultimately incorporated into the University libraries&#8217; online catalogue. For further information, see:<a rel="nofollow" href="http://mapsandmusic.bodleian.ox.ac.uk/project/about/">http://mapsandmusic.bodleian.ox.ac.uk/project/about/</a>.<br><br>Working closely with 1 full-time and 1 part-time Maps Editorial Assistant and a team of 2 full-time postholders for the Music catalogues, under the supervision of a part-time Project Manager, the successful candidate will be expected to undertake quality assurance and the editorial review and enhancement of rekeyed and encoded catalogue records derived from the Bodleian Library&#8217;s map card catalogues, ensuring that all records have been transcribed without typographical errors and tagged in compliance with Project standards, implementing necessary changes directly onto the records by means of a simple data entry interface. The tasks involved are to an extent mechanical, but will require a high level of motivation, attention to detail, problem-solving skills and the ability to prioritise work effectively. This post is part-time, 18.25 hours per week (0.5 FTE) and fixed-term for 1 year until 31July 2014.<br><br>The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate high standards of accuracy while working quickly on routine tasks, a good level of IT literacy and the ability to work as part of a team without constant supervision. Familiarity with cartographic materials would be an advantage.<br><br>Only applications received by 12.00 noon on 13 May 2013 can be considered.
