Postdoctoral Research Assistant (Thames Valley Vision)

<div> We invite applications for a Postdoctoral Research Assistant to work with Professor Peter Grindrod at the Mathematical Institute, University of Oxford. This position is fixed-term until 30 April 2017 and is available from 1 September 2013.<br><br>The Thames Valley Vision project is a collaboration between Scottish and Southern Energy Power Distribution, the Universities of Oxford and Reading, and other commercial partners. The project focuses on a demonstration of how smart meter data can help with the planning and real-time management of the energy distribution in the electricity network.<br><br>The successful candidate will specifically work on methods to anticipate, forecast and reduce peak-demand using smart meter data, subject to time of day tariffs, and energy storage.<br><br>With a PhD awarded, or a Masters degree and PhD submitted (at the time of taking up the award) in mathematics, statistics or a related discipline, the successful candidate will have excellent analytical skills and a strong mathematical background, the ability to work in a multidisciplinary environment and be comfortable in communicating effectively with a variety of academic and industry partners.<br><br>Applicants should read the job description document before writing their application.
