Assistant Curator - Rare Books

The Bodleian Library is seeking to appoint an Assistant Curator from January
2014 to assist with all aspects of the work of the Rare Books and Printed
Ephemera Section, including building our collections, improving access to our
materials and engaging with our users and visitors. This new post is an
exciting opportunity to work with a small but busy team during a period of
significant change and innovation for the Library.
You will already have experience of working in a similar rare books
environment, be professionally qualified and preferably have some experience
of relevant project work, exhibitions, research services, acquiring and/or
cataloguing early printed books. You will have excellent communication and
organisational skills, an interest in developing our services, including
building our social media presence, and a strong commitment to a career in
rare books.
Due to the nature of this post, candidates will be required to undertake a
Disclosure Scotland check as well as a financial background check. The
possession of a criminal record or poor financial background will not
necessarily prevent an applicant from obtaining this post, as all cases are
judged individually according to the nature of the role and information
provided.
