Applications are invited for a postdoctoral fellowship, tenable for 1 year, in
the sub-faculty of Portuguese at Oxford University. The individual will work
under the supervision of Phillip Rothwell, the King John II Professor of
Portuguese, and should have a proven record of scholarly publication. They
will be based in the Faculty of Modern Languages.

Before the application deadline, individuals must have completed all the
requirements of a doctoral degree (including a successful thesis
defence/viva). They should have an excellent research record and have an
appropriate number of publications for the stage of their academic career. The
successful applicant should have a completed doctorate in an aspect of
Portuguese-speaking African literature, preferably using a comparative
approach, and a research proposal that moves beyond work completed for the
doctorate which includes some aspect of Portuguese literature. It is expected
that candidates will be less than 5 years since completion of doctorate and
individuals will have the opportunity to undertake teaching in this area.

Applicants should upload a CV and research statement (of no more than five
pages), outlining their scholarly trajectory and the research project they
intend to undertake during the fellowship.

The closing date for applications is 12.00 noon on 24 March 2014.
