Part-time Teaching Fellow in Russian

The faculty is seeking to appoint an individual from 1 October 2014 or as soon
as possible thereafter to provide teaching and research in the area of 19th
and 20th-century Russian literature. The Sub-faculty of Russian and Other
Slavonic Languages is world-leading both in terms of the range and depth of
its teaching and research and the appointee will be able to interact with
specialists across a number of languages, disciplines and periods. This is a
fixed-term appointment for 10 months to provide teaching in Russian, whilst
the substantive postholder is on a period of externally funded leave.

The appointee will be expected to give no fewer than 12 lectures or classes on
19th- and 20th-century Russian literature and an average of 3 hours per week
of tutorial teaching in Russian literature for the various colleges in the
University. Language teaching may also be included in the college stint. The
appointee will also be expected to engage in independent research and
participate in admissions and other administrative duties as required by the
faculty.

This is a part-time position (0.5FTE).

Applicants should possess: a PhD/DPhil in some aspect of Russian literature
and culture (with a focus on the 19th and 20th centuries); a successful track
record of teaching at undergraduate level, and an understanding of
undergraduate and graduate needs and how to address them; and a research
record in Russian, appropriate to the stage of the individual’s career.
