<div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> The faculty is seeking to appoint an individual from 1 October 2014 to provide teaching and research in the area of Czech literature from 1774 and modern Czech authors including Kundera, Hrabal, Neruda and Pavel, plays by Capek and Havel, M&#225;cha&#8217;s, M&#225;j, Komensk&#253;, Holan, Hrabal, Hodrov&#225; and Johanides, as well as the Slovak author, Mitana. Other papers taken by finalists include Early Texts (Dalimilova kronika, &#381;ivot svat&#233; Kateriny and Tkadlecek) and The History of Czech and Slovak.<br><br>The successful applicant would be expected to give 24 lectures or classes a year and an average of six hours of tutorial teaching weekly in Czech (and Slovak) literature and language for undergraduates reading Czech (and Slovak) across the collegiate University, covering the first-year syllabus and the main undergraduate options. Weekly classes in translation from Czech (and Slovak) to English are also included in this remit plus the coordination and the delivery of Czech (and Slovak) language teaching.<br><br>This is a fixed-term post for up to 3 years and will be held in association with a Senior College Lecturership at University College. The successful applicant will be entitled to free lunches in college, and will have the Senior Lecturer entitlement to dinner. The Lecturer will be able to apply for conference grants in annual gathered fields organised by the college. He or she will be provided with a shared teaching room in college.<br><br>The closing date for applications is 12.00 noon on 14 May 2014.<br></div>
