<div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> The faculty is seeking to appoint an individual from 1 October 2014 to provide teaching and research in the area of Modern French Literature and Language. Preference may be given to candidates with an ability to contribute to teaching and supervision in francophone literatures or literary theory, though the post is open to candidates with a specialism in any area of modern French literature. It is expected that the person appointed will teach up to two centuries within the period 1715 to the present. In addition, the lecturer will be responsible for general organisation of the subject of French within the college. This includes arranging teaching with tutors in other colleges in subjects in which the lecturer is not a specialist, advising the students on their Year Abroad and liaising with the French Lectrice.<br><br>The successful applicant would be expected to give no fewer than sixteen lectures or classes over the three terms of the academic year covering the Preliminary (first-year) course or the Final Honours School (exams taken at the end of the fourth and final year of undergraduate study). The college teaching obligation will be to teach up to 8 hours of tutorials or classes a week averaged over the three terms of the academic year, including Modern Prescribed Authors and Special Subjects.<br><br>This is a fixed-term post for one year to cover the leave of the permanent postholder Dr Jane Hiddleston. Most of the teaching will take place in Exeter College and the postholder should have a PhD and experience of undergraduate teaching and research. The successful applicant will be entitled to free lunches and dinners in college, and will be provided with a shared teaching room.<br><br>The closing date is 12.00 noon on Tuesday 27 May 2014.<br></div>
