Applications are invited for two 12-month, fixed-term Departmental Lecturerships in Ancient Philosophy, tenable from 1 September 2014. The appointments are to fulfil teaching needs arising from a combination of resignations and sabbatical leave, and are non-renewable. One post will be associated with Lady Margaret Hall, and the other post with Oriel College.<br><br>Applications are invited from scholars with active research and teaching interests in philosophy, particularly ancient philosophy. The lecturers will be required to give tutorials, lectures and classes at both undergraduate and graduate level, to engage in examining and administrative work, to take responsibility for administrative and pastoral duties for Lady Margaret Hall and Oriel College respectively, including participation in the undergraduate admissions process, and to engage in independent research in ancient philosophy.<br><br>The successful candidates will hold a doctorate in Philosophy, or will have been awarded a doctorate in Philosophy by 1 September 2014. They will have a record of successful teaching and supervision in Philosophy at undergraduate and graduate level, and the willingness and capability to engage in related activities, such as admissions, examining, pastoral care and administrative duties. Candidates are also expected to have a research publication record within the field, appropriate to their career stage.<br><br>Applications for this vacancy must be submitted online.
