Senior Research Fellow

<div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> The Department of Pharmacology is seeking to appoint a Senior Research Fellow who is a recognised international expert providing intellectual leadership in the area of medicinal chemistry. <br><br>It is expected that he/she will already be of professorial status. He/She will have established the strategic direction of a major research programme in this area. In addition, the postholder is expected to contribute on an international level to the field of medicinal chemistry and drug discovery to fill an important gap across the Medical Sciences Division. He/She will also be required to play a leading role in the development of industrial links between the department and Pharma. It is also desirable that the candidate will have experience in developing spin-out companies in the area of drug discovery.<br><br>The postholder will be responsible for providing vision and direction for research collaborators and colleagues and will be expected to contribute to the department&#8217;s teaching efforts.<br><br>Applicants will be expected to demonstrate that they meet the following essential criteria:<br>- Leading authority in their subject with a considerable international reputation; <br>- Depth of knowledge of their specialism to enable the development of innovation and new understanding in the field;<br>- Ability to operate with credibility across a number of academic disciplines; <br>- Significant experience of developing research strategies and managing research projects;<br>- Outstanding publication record as first author in prestigious international journals;<br>- Successful track record of attracting and managing significant research income;<br>- Excellent reputation in teaching and academic supervision;<br>- Significant industrial activity.<br><br>The closing date for applications is 12.00 noon on 19 September 2014. </div>
