<div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> PREVIOUS APPLICANTS NEED NOT APPLY.<br><br>We are recruiting for a PDRA who will become a key member of a team that is supported by the ERC grant DRAGNET: a high speed, wide angle camera for catching extreme astrophysical events. The post will play a large role in this project by helping to create and commission a new, innovative backend to the LOFAR telescope that is capable of processing high-time-resolution radio data in real time in order to discover fast transients and radio pulsars. This system will also monitor hundreds of known radio pulsars at a high cadence (every few days). The complete DRAGNET team will consist of the PI, 1 x technical developer, 2 x science postdocs and 2 x PhDs and will be based in ASTRON, the University of Amsterdam and the University of Oxford. The purpose of this post is to assist in the design, development and implementation of many-core accelerated software for the real-time data processing of DRAGNET survey data. DRAGNET will use existing C++ software to take care of data movement between processing modules and data persistence. Each modular component of the pipeline is responsible for one part of the data processing toolchain.<br><br>This post is fixed-term for 2.5 years.<br><br>The closing date for applications is 12.00 noon on 24 October 2014. </div>
