The Museum of the History of Science is seeking a junior curator to focus on
the museum’s and the University departments’ modern collections and their role
in research, teaching and outreach. This is a new role that is expected to
work across the University and to engage in innovative ways with the
departments.

The successful candidate will document material dispersed in a range of
scientific and medical departments as well as in the museum. The postholder
will contribute to the museum’s research and teaching, and to its public
programme of exhibitions, events and outreach.

The successful candidate will be committed to the importance of material
culture in an academic and public context. This will require traditional
museum skills as well as the ability to build new partnerships and connect
with the public engagement agendas of University departments.

This post is a fixed-term contract for 2 years in the first instance funded by
the University of Oxford; the postholder will be expected to help develop
funding bids for the continuation of the post beyond the initial 2 years.

The closing date for applications is 12.00 noon on 5th January 2015 and
interviews will be held week commencing 12 January 2015.
