Applications for this vacancy closed on 24 April 2015 at 12:00PM
Applications are invited to join a multidisciplinary team at the MRC Unit in
the Department of Pharmacology, University of Oxford. We seek a Postdoctoral
Neuroscientist to develop, execute and analyse a combination of in vivo
electrophysiological, behavioural and optogenetics experiments in rodents as
part of a scientific project that is designed to elucidate the normal
functions of midbrain dopaminergic neurons as well as their dysfunction in
models of Parkinson’s disease. Interested candidates should hold a PhD or
equivalent qualification (or MD) in a relevant area of research, and should
have a promising track record in original research in their particular field
of neuroscience. Candidates are also expected to have some technical expertise
in neurophysiology, and to provide evidence of creative and critical thinking
as applied to the advancement and delivery of a focused and cohesive programme
of research.

The postholder will work with Professor Peter J Magill and Dr Paul D Dodson at
the MRC Unit, Department of Pharmacology. The group uses a transdisciplinary
approach to elucidate the function and dysfunction of the basal ganglia, and
employs innovative electrophysiological, anatomical, behavioural and genetics-
based techniques to study these circuits in reduced preparations and the whole
organism.

This is a fixed-term post of 32 months, funded by the Medical Research
Foundation, with an initial probationary period, to start on 1 June 2015 or as
soon as possible thereafter.

The closing date for applications is 12.00 noon on Friday 24 April 2015.
