Postdoctoral Neuroscientist

Applications for this vacancy closed on 10 July 2015 at 12:00PM
This Postdoctoral Neuroscientist will develop, execute and analyse state-of-
the-art electrophysiological and behavioural experiments in rodents as part of
a scientific programme designed to investigate dynamics of cell assemblies in
the hippocampus circuit and related subcortical brain areas.

The postholder will be part of the Dupret Group based at the MRC Brain Network
Dynamics Unit at the University of Oxford, Department of Pharmacology. The
group uses a multidisciplinary approach to elucidate (1) how temporal
coordination of neuronal activity in the hippocampus relates to the encoding,
consolidation and recall of memories, and (2) how drugs of abuse may affect
such processes. The group combines electrophysiological techniques with
optogenetic techniques to infer causality, where possible.

Interested candidates should hold a PhD in Neuroscience and should have a
promising track record in the field of neuronal assemblies and memory
processes. Candidates are expected to have advanced technical expertise in
programming (C, Python, R or Matlab) and multivariate data analysis. General
expertise in neurophysiology and/or rodent behavioural training is desirable.
They should have evidence of designing and completing high quality research as
part of a cohesive programme. Ability to work in a team is essential.

This post is fixed-term for 4 years with an initial probationary period,
funded by the Medical Research Council, with a starting date mid November
2015.

The closing date for this post is 12.00 noon on Friday 10 July 2015.
