Communications Officer

Applications for this vacancy closed on 22 February 2016 at 12:00PM
The Centre is now looking to recruit a Communications Officer who will play a
significant role in improving our engagement with a range of stakeholders both
within the University and externally. It will include academics, industry,
governmental bodies and policy makers through a range of mediums including;
the website, publications, events, social media and the Press.

This post is new and reflects the Centre’s aspirations and investment in our
communications infrastructure to encourage an ethos of engagement, create
opportunities for academics to participate in public engagement activities and
actively encourage inward investment from a range of partners. The post will
be key to delivering improved, consistent, and up-to-date content for the
website and existing print channels, including managing the editorial process
of the departmental newsletter and Annual Report. You will be responsible for
seeking out news stories, drafting content and distributing to the media to
raise the Centre’s profile.

There will be real opportunities to drive forward change and shape the
Communications Strategy working with the Communications Manager to develop the
Social Media Strategy, Communications KPIs, redeveloping the website and
working to develop a public engagement strategy. This is an excellent
opportunity for an ambitious individual to work in a challenging, but
supportive environment, to enable the Centre to achieve its Communications
objectives and support the candidate to develop a range of new skills.
Experience in a similar role in a Higher Education would be an advantage, but
more important is the ability to convert complex information into a format
that can be understood by a lay audience ensuring that the tone is
professional, informative and stimulating. You will need to be able to
communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders in a friendly and
approachable manner in order to extract and exchange relevant information in a
timely manner.

This post is fixed-term for 2 years.

The closing date for applications is 12.00 noon on 22 February 2016.
