<div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <p>The Oxford e-Research Centre is a hub for multidisciplinary collaborations, supporting the use and development of innovative computational and information technology in both academic research and industrial applications. The centre has a broad portfolio of research and development projects and receives research funding from all the UK research councils, JISC, industry and the European Union. Its research activities cut across the sciences, social sciences, arts and humanities, engineering and medicine, and its core research expertise includes visualisation and visual computing, e-infrastructure, high-performance computing, and web sciences.</p> <p>We are now seeking to employ an enthusiastic IT professional to join the centre as Head of IT and to lead the design, deployment and support of IT infrastructure that underpins the centre's research activities. This is a 2-year fixed-term post, in the first instance, with a view that it will become an established position within the centre.</p> <p>The postholder will have responsibility for developing and managing all aspects of IT related infrastructure within the centre. Working with senior researchers, the postholder will lead on designing and ensuring suitable central IT infrastructure is provisioned to meet the needs of the centre.</p> <p>He/she will also be concerned with the management of networking infrastructure; including wireless, backbone configuration and maintenance, and advise on the long term planning of provision of the office and research systems within the centre. Overall, the postholder will be the principal point of contact and knowledge for all IT related requirements of the centre. Working with projects that span multiple departments and multiple institutes nationally and internationally the postholder will also ensure external IT relationships are maintained, representing the centre as required.</p> <p>The closing date for applications is 12.00 noon on 30 September 2015.
