Senior Researcher on ED3

<div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <p></p><p>THIS VACANCY IS FOR INTERNAL APPLICANTS ONLY</p><br><p>The Department of Computer Science of University of Oxford has a vacancy for a Senior Researcher to work in the area of Information Systems, on the Enabling Analytics over Diverse Distributed Data Sources (ED3) project. The post is available for up to 3 years.</p><br><p>The project aims to develop an abstraction layer that mediates between analytics tools and datasources. This abstraction layer will involve combining techniques from ontologies and databases, using an ontology to provide a uniform conceptual schema, declarative mappings to establish connections between ontological terms and data sources, and logic-based rewriting techniques to transform ontological queries into queries over the data sources.</p><br><p>Applicants should have (or be close to completing) a PhD in computer science, or some other relevant discipline. They should also have the ability to conduct and complete research projects, as witnessed by published peer-reviewed work, the ability to manage their own academic research and associated activities, excellent communication skills, and a willingness to collaborate with others and work effectively as a member of a team.</p><br><p>Whilst the role is a Grade 8 position, we would be willing to consider candidates with potential but less experience who are seeking a development opportunity, for which an initial appointment would be at Grade 7 (&#163;30,738 - &#163;37,768 p.a.) with the responsibilities adjusted accordingly.
