<div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <p></p><p>The Museum of the History of Science (MHS) is undertaking an exhibition project on antibiotics. It will examine the history and future of disease, drug development, commercial innovation and the patient experience, moving from the history of penicillin in the mid-20th century to antibiotic resistance now. Supported by the EPA Cephalosporin Fund, Back from the Dead will help conserve apparatus and archival material in the MHS collections, create a special loan exhibition to open in October 2016 along with a subsequent permanent redisplay, and also deliver a broad programme of public events, education work, and digital resources.</p><br><p>The Museum is seeking an exhibition curator for Back from the Dead. The postholder will have a key role in the development of the project, working closely with Museum staff and volunteers to deliver the project outcomes, and liaising between MHS and its project partners. The postholder will co-curate the special loan exhibition and permanent redisplay, researching and interpreting materials and writing content to appear in print and online. The postholder will also deliver events in the public programme and assist with project administration.</p><br><p>The successful candidate will have a strong background in both museums and the history of medicine, and should ideally have expertise in the history of early to mid-20th-century medicine. The postholder will be particularly responsible for reinterpreting the Museum&#8217;s collections within the context of the history of penicillin and antibiotics and the contemporary issues surrounding antibiotic resistance.</p><br><p>The role is part-time and fixed term for 14 months, working on average 22.5 hours per week.</p><br><p>The deadline for applications is 12.00 noon on Thursday 28 January 2016 and interviews will be held on Monday 8 February 2016.</p> </div>
