SOCIAM Research Enterprise Manager

We have a unique opportunity for an experienced Researcher and Project Manager
to support the SOCIAM project until its completion in November 2017. SOCIAM
(The Theory and Practice of Social Machines) is one of the UK’s most important
web and Computer Science interdisciplinary projects. Reporting to Professor
Sir Nigel Shadbolt, and collaborating with academic partners in Edinburgh and
Southampton, the project’s core objective is to establish the research,
methods, tools and collaborations to allow us to understand social machines.



The role involves many aspects, including identifying potential partners for
commercialisation of the research, taking the project through the latest and
most dynamic web presentation of research results, and supporting all partners
in translating their research into innovative forms of deployment,
implementation, and exploitation with business and academia.



You will have a PhD in science, engineering, or a related area, together with
commercial experience in a corporate environment, demonstrated through a
network of commercial contacts in applicable area and knowledge of relevant
market/industry key requirements. Experience as a senior manager in industry
or demonstrable excellent business acumen, and knowledge of web science and
technologies (linked and open data, privacy, trust and provenance, and social
computation) are highly desirable.
