<div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <p></p><p>The Leopold Muller Memorial Library (LMML) delivers a high quality information service supporting research and teaching in the field of Hebrew and Jewish Studies within the University of Oxford. LMML is seeking a Senior Library Assistant to be part of the team at their base in the Clarendon Institute, Walton Street, Oxford.</p><br><p>This is an ideal opportunity for someone who wants to contribute to the overall operations of the library. You will assist the Librarians in the delivery of a high quality service and will also provide second-level enquiry services and assistance to users of the library, its collections and resources.</p><br><p>You will be responsible for the effective day-to-day running of the library and its circulation services with support from two Library Assistants who work at the library&#8217;s Circulation Desk. You will also provide technical and stock management services, including multi-lingual cataloguing of library materials to the full standards of at least one of the following: AACR, MARC/RDA and LCSH, and relevant project work as required.</p><br><p>You will be educated to A-level standard or have equivalent skills and experience, and have some knowledge of Hebrew and Jewish Studies and of the Hebrew language. You will have experience of library work, good communication and IT skills and a knowledge of at least one of AACR2, MARC or RDA. You will be able to work with a minimum of supervision with accuracy and have the ability to carry out physically-demanding tasks, including pushing trolleys, lifting books, shelving and retrieving books using ladders, and loading items into boxes</p><br><p>A professional qualification in library and information science and the knowledge of Yiddish and German in addition to Hebrew, as well as the experience of delivering library inductions, are desirable.</p><br><p>This is a full-time, permanent post.</p><br><p>This post is part of a pilot scheme testing a new Supporting Evidence form in place of the more usual &#8216;supporting statement&#8217;.
