Departmental Lecturer in German

This post is fixed-term for 4 years from 1 September 2016 (or as soon as
possible thereafter) to replace Professor Katrin Kohl while she oversees the
AHRC Open World Research Initiative-funded research project, Creative
Multilingualism.



The post involves engaging in advanced teaching and academic research in
German in the modern period. This will include giving lectures and tutorials
to undergraduate and graduate students, contributing to the teaching,
research, and academic administration of the sub-faculty; and pursuing an
independent research programme.



The lecturer will also be expected to carry out the normal duties of a College
Tutor, including organising tuition in German, co-ordinating the undergraduate
admissions process for German (including interviewing), and setting and
marking termly College examinations. The lecturer will also be expected to
play a full part in running the subject of Modern Languages in the Jesus
College, in collaboration with the other tutors in Modern Languages, assisting
with the admissions process for Modern Languages and other administrative
duties, and sharing responsibility for the pastoral care of undergraduate
students in the subject.
