We currently have a number of exciting opportunities to join our established
Gallery Assistant team. Your role will be to ensure that our visitors enjoy a
first class experience that exceeds their expectations, as well as playing
your part in helping to protect our priceless collections and our stunning
building.



You have probably been working in a busy customer services environment, or
similar. A team player, you will have some knowledge of basic security
procedures and health and safety requirements in a public environment. First
aid training would be an advantage.



You will need to have excellent communication skills and enjoy using them as
you will be interacting with our visitors to ensure they have a memorable
visit to the Museum. You will also have a confident and pro-active approach to
dealing with challenges and issues as well as a positive outlook and a desire
to gain knowledge of the Museum and the City, and promote this to our
visitors.



This role involves mainly patrolling the Museum’s galleries to assist visitors
and maintain security, therefore you must be able to stand and walk for
periods of time, the museum is over three floor therefore you will be required
to climb stairs, there is limited opportunity to sit during the shift.
Physical fitness for standing and walking is required, since there is limited
opportunity to sit during the shift.



The Museum is open 12.00 noon to 5.00 pm, Tuesday – Sunday (incl. Bank
Holidays). The shifts will be during these times, with a break shift available
to cover the gallery staff break which is 1.5 hours per day between 1.00 pm
and 2.30 pm.



Part-time hours from April 2016: Four x 2 day shifts (each shift is 5.17 hrs;
a minimum of two shifts and multiples of twos are being offered. Shifts are
rostered Tuesdays to Sundays incl. Bank Holidays; Break cover shifts (each
shift is 1.5 hrs; a minimum of two shifts and multiples of twos are being
offered. Shifts are rostered Tuesdays to Sundays incl. Bank Holidays).



The post is fixed-term until 31 March 2018.
