Research Associate - The History of Dyslexia

<div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <p></p><p>&#8216;The History of Dyslexia&#8217; is an ambitious and exciting new research project based at the History Faculty and the Department of Experimental Psychology, University of Oxford.</p><br><p>The project team will provide an authoritative account of the scientific work that led to the present-day definition of dyslexia, and create the first repository of material relating to the subject. The team will also consider political attitudes towards dyslexia, and explore the everyday experience of dyslexia and how dyslexic people and their families came to understand the subject.</p><br><p>We are seeking a Research Associate to collaborate with the Principal Investigator to shape project research priorities and disseminate the findings of the research. You will work closely with the public to collect historical evidence including oral testimonies, and will actively promote awareness of the project within and beyond academia via outreach events, media outlets including a website, conferences and research publications.</p><br><p>You will hold a doctorate in a relevant subject (or show evidence that a doctorate is imminent). You will have a capacity for excellent independent research, and also for working as part of a team engaging in innovative forms of collaborative research. You will have outstanding communications skills and the ability to engage the public effectively with the research.</p><br><p>This is a full-time post based at Oxford, fixed-term for 2 years, tenable from 1 October 2016.
