<div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <p></p><p>A 12-month fixed-term research and teaching appointment in early modern English Literature (1550-1700) is available for an outstanding academic at an early stage of their career. The purpose of the post is to cover the teaching of Professor Lorna Hutson, the Merton Chair in English Literature, who will be on research leave funded by the Leverhulme Trust during the 2016 - 2017 academic year. It is anticipated that the appointee will take up the post on 1 September 2016.</p><br><p>The postholder will be expected to provide up to 36 hours of Faculty lectures or classes per year. Within this, the main focus of the Departmental Lecturer&#8217;s teaching responsibilities will be undergraduate lecturing on early modern literature and providing teaching for the MSt course (1500-1700 strand). S/he will also undertake dissertation supervision and examining, and assist with admissions for the MSt. The postholder will also be required to spend up to 8 hours per week assisting Professor Hutson with the organisation of the Centre for Early Modern Studies; this may include organising and publicising events and updating the CEMS website.</p><br><p>The successful candidate should have a research and publication record in early modern English Literature, and must possess a doctorate in an appropriate area. S/he must also have experience of undergraduate and graduate teaching.</p><br><p>Candidates shortlisted for interview will be asked to submit a sample of written work in advance of the interviews, and will be requested to give a short presentation as part of the assessment process. Two references will be sought for shortlisted candidates.</p><br><p>Applications, which should include a CV and supporting statement, should be made online by 12.00 noon on Monday 4 July 2016. Interviews will be held in Oxford on Monday 18 July 2016.</p> </div>
