Administrator and PA - Department of Western Art
curatorial department that is concerned with a range of activities, including
gallery displays, exhibitions, digitisation, research, publications and
teaching, and with enhancing the collections through loans and acquisitions.
You will ensure that an effective administrative service is provided for these
activities, including monitoring and managing Departmental finances and
maintaining efficient office and filing systems. Co-ordinating and liaising on
Western Art activities and procedures, and ensuring good communication within
a busy department and across the museum, are essential to this role. You will
often be the first point of contact for public queries or for donors and
potential benefactors, requiring high standards of professionalism,
responsiveness and confidentiality. You will support the Keeper and senior
staff by organising meetings and events, and as PA will ensure efficient diary
management and travel arrangements. You will have excellent communication
skills, experience in a similar role, and the ability to manage a broad
workload efficiently. You will also have excellent analytical and IT skills
with the capacity to use the Oracle financial system and the MuseumPlus
collections database.
