Research Software Engineer Associate - Exploiting the Exascale

<div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <p></p><p>The centre is seeking a Research Software Engineer Associate with the main responsibility of the postholder to be working closely with Dr Ian Bush to develop distributed memory computational solutions in a number of applications, mainly in the computational chemistry and computational magnetohydrodynamics areas. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to design these solutions in collaboration with Dr Bush and other developers of the various codes. The postholder will be expected to implement the design correctly and efficiently, to document and publish their work in an appropriate manner, and to be an active and engaged member of the wider OeRC scientific computing group. Thus the main duty will be as a scientific programmer within a collaborative team. As such the postholder will not only need to have strong programming abilities, they will also need to be able to explain their ideas to collaborators, and will be expected to visit the other sites involved in the project on a regular basis. As part of the post, access to large scale computing facilities will be provided, including the UK&#8217;s national machine ARCHER (www.archer.ac.uk) and Oxford&#8217;s central HPC facility ARC (www.arc.ox.ac.uk). The postholder will also have opportunities to present their work both nationally and internationally, and to interact with other HPC groups, and there may also be opportunities to work with groups using the software which has been developed at experimental facilities such as Diamond (www.diamond.ac.uk) and ITER (www.iter.org).</p><br><p>This is a fixed-term post for 4 years.</p><br><p>The closing date for applications is 12.00 noon on 9 September 2016.
