Part-time Library Assistant (Term-time only)

We are seeking a customer focused Part-time Library Assistant (Evenings) to
work as part of a small team in the iconic and busy Radcliffe Camera, which
houses the History Faculty Library and Bodleian English and History
undergraduate collections.



You will support the provision of Bodleian Radcliffe Camera library services
during evening opening hours, and one afternoon per week, during term-time.
Assisting in the running of the Lower Camera circulation desk, you will also
be required to re-sensitise returned books, sort them for re-shelving and
finally place them back on the shelf. You will also invigilate reading rooms,
assist readers in the use of library equipment, carry out basic work on the
Aleph system and assist with the processing of new books.



The work is physical but also requires a good eye for detail and accuracy as
well as the ability to work independently. You will have the ability to
communicate effectively with a wide range of library staff and users as well
as the ability to work effectively in a team. Ability to undertake routine
tasks with care and accuracy in a timely manner, a strong customer service
philosophy and good level of IT literacy are also essential. You will also
have the ability to lift, carry and move books and other library materials, of
various sizes and weights, in a safe and efficient manner



Experience of library work and familiarity with ALEPH/library databases would
be an advantage, but full training will be given as necessary.



This is a part-time post working during term-time only. You will be required
to work 13 hours per week (0.36 FTE) over 30 weeks per year (weeks 0-9).
