The Bodleian Law Library, one of the UK's leading law libraries, is seeking to
appoint a Library Assistant (Shelving and Serials). This is a permanent, full-
time position and the successful candidate will be supporting the work of the
Bodleian Law Library team.



You will be responsible for shelving library materials and ensuring the
collections are kept tidy and well-maintained. This aspect of the role
involves lifting and carrying books, pushing trolleys and moving totes (book
crates), and is an activity undertaken for prolonged periods of each day as
materials are moved between the library's four floors; training is provided.
Checking-in serials and associated serials work will be your other main
responsibility; full serials training on the library's integrated library
system, Aleph, will be available. Also, you will have regular Reading Room
duties, assisting readers and providing a high quality front-line service to a
wide range of library users.



The successful applicant will have a strong customer service approach and
enjoy working in a team. Good IT, communication and numeracy skills are
essential, as is excellent time-keeping and the ability to work accurately
under pressure with a large volume of work. The ability to lift and move
library materials using trolleys and other equipment as required is essential.
Previous library experience is desirable.
