It comprises works in Hebrew, Yiddish and Western European languages, with an emphasis on Hebrew and Yiddish literature, Jewish history, bibliography and Rabbinics. This post requires a flexible, approachable and reliable individual to invigilate the library and reading room after normal library staff leave. Your key duties will include loans checking in and out, shelving and assisting readers with enquiries.</p><br><p>You will have a good general education and be able to communicate effectively with a wide range of library staff and users, both orally and in writing. You will be committed to delivering a professional, high quality information service supporting the research and teaching activity of the University of Oxford in the field of Hebrew and Jewish studies. Familiarity with SOLO, library databases and a knowledge of Hebrew and/or Yiddish is desirable.</p><br><p>This is a permanent variable hours (paid as claimed) post. It is anticipated that you will work approximately 11 hours per week term-time only (weeks 0-8). The working pattern is anticipated to include: Thursdays and Fridays 4.45 - 7:15 pm, Saturdays 10.45 am - 5.15 pm with occasional day cover as needed (also during vacations). These shifts will be offered on a rota basis with other members of the paid as claimed team.</p><br><p>You will be required to upload a supporting evidence form as part of your online application. Your supporting evidence form should list each of the essential and desirable selection criteria, as listed in the further particulars, and explain how you meet each one. Covering letters, supporting statements and CVs will not form part of the selection process.</p><br><p>Only applications received online before 12.00 midday on Thursday 6 October 2016 can be considered. Interviews are expected to take place on Thursday 13 and Friday 14 October 2016.</p> </div>
