Part-time Gallery Supervisor and Shop Assistant

The Museum of the History of Science, University of Oxford, is aiming to
increase its commercial revenue and has thus created a new role that operates
across front-of-house activities at the being of the year. This new role has
now become a job share, working with the existing post holder, the new post
holder will have special responsibility for the Museum shop and act as the co-
ordinator and supervisor of the gallery team.
The successful candidate will have a proven ability to co-ordinate and
supervise a team. The postholder’s main focus will be the newly-created small
Museum shop; the successful candidate will need to demonstrate the ability to
run a small commercial outlet jointly with the existing postholder, be able to
operate the till and handle cash effectively, while assisting with the
development of the stock.
This role is a job share and therefore the postholder will be required to
communicate and co-ordinate with the person who covers the other part of the
job share and will need to be able to work 2 days in the week one of which
needs to be Tuesday and 1 day over the weekend, in line with business needs.
This post is fixed-term to 31 March 2018 and part-time (18.25 hours per week).
The closing date for applications is 12.00 noon on 10 October 2016. Interviews
will take place on 20 October 2016.
