<div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <p></p><p>The Faculty of English Language and Literature seeks applications from scholars working in the field of literature in English in the long 19th century, defined for this purpose as c.1780 - 1910. The successful candidate will promote the literary study of this period in Oxford at all levels, and stimulate interest in the subject within the wider academic community and beyond. They will be a scholar of the highest international standing with an outstanding record of research and publication, and will demonstrate an ability to teach, guide, and inspire students and colleagues at all levels and to represent the Faculty within both the University and the academic community at large.</p><br> <p>This post is offered in association with Merton College.</p><br> <p>Start date: 1 January 2018 or as soon as possible thereafter.</p><br> <p>The closing date for applications is 12.00 noon on Friday 15 September 2017.</p><br> <p>Applications are particularly welcome from women and black and minority ethnic candidates, who are under-represented in academic posts in Oxford.</p> </div>
