<div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <p></p><p>The Friends of the Bodleian is a society which organises events to explain to all the significance of the Libraries&#8217; collections and history in order to raise funds for the Bodleian Libraries&#8217; acquisitions and conservation work. We are now seeking a well-organised and enthusiastic administrator.</p><br><p>This is a varied and stimulating role. You will be organising events and meetings, developing our database, administering our fundraising, answering membership queries, making travel arrangements, maintaining our website and doing some editorial work. You will have a unique chance to be involved in the development of a new, automated membership system. This is an excellent opportunity to gain further experience in administration and fundraising within an academic environment.</p><br><p>You will be educated to at least A-Level standard or equivalent and have previous office experience in administration or fundraising. We are looking for someone who can manage his/her own workload efficiently and work effectively as a team as well as independently. An excellent telephone manner, the ability to communicate sensitively with a wide range of people, and a helpful &#8216;can-do&#8217; attitude are also essential. Familiarity with libraries and archives in research and teaching is desirable, as is an interest in higher education and in particular an understanding of the University of Oxford.</p><br><p>This is a fixed-term post for 2 years and working part-time (25 hours a week/0.68 FTE) occasionally including evenings and weekends.</p><br><p>Owing to the nature of this post, candidates will be required to undertake a Disclosure Scotland check and a finance check. The possession of a criminal record or poor financial background will not necessarily prevent an applicant from obtaining this post, as all cases are judged individually according to the nature of the role and information provided.</p><br><p>This post is part of a pilot scheme testing a new Supporting Evidence form in place of the more usual &#8216;supporting statement&#8217;. Please ensure that you carefully read the How to Apply section provided in the Job Description, which you can download below along with the required Supporting Evidence form.
