Part-time Executive Assistant
Applications for this vacancy closed on 24 November 2016 at 12:00PM
The Museum of the History of Science, University of Oxford, is looking to
appoint a part-time Executive Assistant (EA). The role of EA offers the
opportunity for involvement at the heart of the Museum in a busy, challenging
and fast-moving environment.
The EA will provide direct administrative and project support to the Director
and Deputy Director through efficiently managing their time, providing
information necessary for decision making, and monitoring and resolving issues
and problems. The postholder will have a clear understanding of both the
organisational and governance structure of the Museum and University and a
good understanding of the museum sector. This position requires a keen
awareness of organisational realities and, as the first point of contact for
the directorial office, the interpersonal skills to relate to and communicate
at all levels with internal and external staff and stakeholders.
The workload will be demanding, requiring good personal organisation and
flexibility, as well as an ability to work to deadlines, to track multiple
issues and to oversee projects through to completion. Sound judgement and
discretion are essential.
It is expected that there will be a regular schedule of working hours from
Monday to Thursday, but occasional flexibility will be required to accommodate
meetings (especially Visitors’ meetings on one Friday each term) and events.
This post is fixed-term for 18 months, working 16 hours per week – Monday to
Thursday.
An application form and further particulars can be downloaded from the
University website.
Closing date for this position is 12.00 noon on Thursday 24 November 2016.
Interviews for this position will be on Friday 9 December 2016.
