Part-time Research Assistant in Calcium Signalling

We are seeking a Research Assistant to work with Dr Michiko Yamasaki-Mann in
the research group of Professor Antony Galione in the Department of
Pharmacology. The group is involved in internationally recognised research in
the field of calcium signalling.



The successful postholder will manage their own research and administrative
activities; contribute to the research planning for the group; select, follow
and adapt experimental protocols; contribute to scientific reports and
articles; and take responsibility for general laboratory management and
administration, including stock control of laboratory consumables.



In addition to a first degree in a relevant subject, the postholder will need
sufficient specialist knowledge in the electrophysiology in CNS to work within
this established research programme. other essential criteria include
experience of following and adapting protocols and selecting appropriate
experimental methodologies; experience of analysis and writing program with
Igor program for electrophysiology in CNS; and experience of conducting
simultaneous recording of patch clamp and calcium imaging in the mouse brain
slices preparations.



The post is funded by the University's Returning Carer's Fund and is available
at 0.4 FTE for a fixed-term of 3 months.
