Part-time Library Assistant (Term-Time Only)

Applications for this vacancy closed on 13 March 2017 at 12:00PM
The English Faculty Library (EFL) was established in 1914 “to serve all those
reading and teaching English at Oxford”. We are seeking an enthusiastic and
reliable person to join the small team in our busy lending library; the EFL
currently serves over 2,000 readers from the English Faculty and from other
University departments. Your duties will include front-line reader services,
including staffing the circulation desk, dealing with a wide range of readers’
enquiries and shelving duties within. You will also provide essential support
for ongoing projects including reclassification and book moves. This role
involves lifting, moving and carrying books and library materials using
trolleys.

You will have previous experience working in a busy academic library – or
similar customer service environment - and a strong focus on customer care is
essential. You will communicate effectively and courteously with a wide range
of library users and work with accuracy and care without close supervision and
have the ability to move and carry books. Although any necessary training will
be provided, experience of automated library management systems is desirable.

This is a permanent, part-time post working 20 hours per week during term-time
only (Weeks 0 – 9) - 0.54 of full-time weekly working hours. The working
pattern is anticipated to be 20 hours per week from 9.00 am to 1.00 pm, Monday
to Friday or as agreed with your line manager

with the required Supporting Evidence Form.

Only applications received online before 12.00 midday on Monday 13 March 2017
can be considered. Interviews are expected to take place during the week
