Professorship of Education

Applications for this vacancy closed on 5 May 2017 at 12:00PM
The University of Oxford wishes to appoint a Professor of Education from early
2018 or as soon as possible thereafter.

The Oxford Department of Education, uniquely in the UK, sustains the strongest
of standards in both its teacher education and its research. As well as
consistently achieving the highest grades in Ofsted inspections, the 2014
Research Excellence Framework evaluation placed the department as the clear
leader for education research in the United Kingdom. These high standards are
achieved through strong intellectual leadership which values the importance of
research to all aspects of the department’s teaching. The department’s
research grants are a significant element of its income.

The University is seeking to appoint a scholar with an outstanding record of
contributing to the intellectual research leadership of the department through
their own programme of publications and research funding.

The successful applicant will have an outstanding international reputation for
research in the teacher professional practice, educational policy, sociology
and/or economics of education or learning analytics. They will contribute to
programmes of research and teaching currently underway within the department
and will be expected to play a part in the intellectual research leadership of
the department as a whole. As well as teaching and supervision of graduate
students they will lead a programme of research at national and international
level and generate significant research income. They will also contribute to
the research-related activities of one of the department’s research themes.

Applications are to be made online. To apply for this role and for further
