<div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <p></p><p>THIS VACANCY IS FOR INTERNAL APPLICANTS ONLY AND MAY ALSO BE OFFERED AS A SECONDMENT OPPORTUNITY</p><br> <p>The Museum of the History of Science is one of the four museums of the University of Oxford which include the Ashmolean, The University Museum of Natural History, and the Pitt Rivers Museum. The Museum occupies the Old Ashmolean Building in Broad Street which was the original home of the Ashmolean Museum when it was founded in 1683, the first purpose-built museum in the world. The Museum now houses an outstanding and unique collection of objects related to the history of science, notably the largest collections in the world of astrolabes and sundials, and other material dating from the medieval period through to the early 20th century. It is a national and international centre of excellence for research and teaching in the material culture of science, and the interpretation of its collection is supported by a lively programme of exhibitions and public events for a range of audiences.</p><br> <p>Reporting to the Departmental Administrator or a member of the Senior Team your key responsibilities will include answering incoming calls from the public; liaising with contractors and across the staff team; assisting with arrangements for health, safety and security and supporting Finance and HR processes. You may be asked on occasion to work evenings or weekends</p><br> <p>If you are highly organised and aspire to be key to the smooth running of the Museum this will be the perfect role for you. You will be self-motivated and flexible and enjoy working as part of a small team with the confidence to work independently with direction. You should enjoy interacting with staff members, contractors and visitors alike and enjoy the uniqueness of the Museum setting as your office.</p><br> <p>This post is a full-time, fixed-term contract for 6 months with a possibility that this will be extended.</p><br> <p>You will need to attach a CV and supporting statement. The supporting statement should explain how you meet the selection criteria for the post using examples of your skills and experience. This may include experience gained in employment, education, or during career breaks (such as time out to care for dependants).</p><br> <p>The closing date for applications is 12.00 noon on Friday 28 July 2017. Interviews have been scheduled for 14 August 2017 with the successful candidate starting shortly after.</p> </div>
