<div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <p></p><p>We have an opening for a Senior Research Engineer/Firmware Engineer to work on the TrackSafe project for a fixed-term of up to 9 months, in the area of localisation and positioning in environments where GPS may be unreliable or unavailable, such as in railway tunnels. The post will be under the direction of Dr Andrew Markham and Dr Niki Trigoni, who together lead the Sensor Networks Group which conducts innovative research in sensor systems, localisation and information processing.</p><br> <p>The key objective of the TrackSafe project is to develop an integrated system to greatly reduce the hazards for railway track workers when working on or near operational lines, whilst improving efficiency by integrating into a GIS mapping system. You will be expected to combine aspects of sensor design and fusion to realise a working system that will be developed alongside an industrial partner.</p><br> <p>More information about the sensor networks group can be found here: www.cs.ox.ac.uk/activities/sensors/index.html</p><br> <p>You should have a BSc/MSc in electrical engineering/computer science or similar/commensurate industrial experience, with a proven track record of firmware development in related applications (IOT/signal processing/DSP, etc). Experience in ARM Cortex M4F processors and in sensor fusion e.g. Kalman Filtering, SLAM algorithms is desirable.</p><br> <p>Whilst the role is a Grade 8 position, we would be willing to consider candidates with potential but less experience who are seeking a development opportunity, for which an initial appointment would be at Grade 7 (&#163;31,076 - &#163;38,183 p.a.) with the responsibilities adjusted accordingly. This would be discussed with applicants at interview/appointment where appropriate.</p><br> <p>The closing date for applications is 12.00 noon on Monday 14 August 2017.
