Part-time Communications Officer 0.6 FTE

An opportunity for a part-time Communications Officer has arisen in the
Department of Computer Science. You will focus on media relations and research
communications, and contribute to a wide range of communications channels to
enhance the department’s international profile and reputation for excellence
in teaching and research. You will foster a culture of engagement across the
department, creating opportunities for, and supporting, research scientists to
participate in public engagement activities.



You will be required to promote and explain our research within the higher
education and industry sectors, as well as the wider University, and improve
our communications with various stakeholders, including funders, businesses,
and the general public, prospective students, professional associations, and
governmental bodies. You will also be expected to create and commission
digital and social media content, as well as contribute to more traditional
channels, including managing the department’s newsletter.



We are seeking applicants who have proven skills or experience equivalent to
those derived from holding a degree, in a relevant discipline, and who have
practical experience in communications, marketing, journalism, public
relations, copywriting or similar, preferably science-related, and/or in the
Higher Education sector.
