The Bodleian Libraries are looking to recruit three Shelving Assistants, to
work during term-time only, in the historic and iconic Radcliffe Camera and
Gladstone Links. Designed by James Gibbs and built in the mid-eighteenth
century, the Radcliffe Camera provides a range of library services to Bodleian
readers, in particular to staff and students of the History Faculty.

You will collect, sort and replace open shelf books/journals as required and
tidy shelf sequences, participate in stack management projects and adhere to
health and safety guidelines whilst using kick stools, shelving heavy and
oversized books and helping with book moves as required. You will also ensure
books/material are returned in good order, carry out minor repairs and re-

reliable, have awareness of the importance of good customer care and have the
ability to work independently. Previous experience of working in a library or

This role involves lifting and carrying boxes of library materials, pushing
trolleys on a daily basis and using a mobile step platform and kickstool.

This is a permanent, paid as claimed (variable hours) post and the hours are
anticipated to be around 7 per week, mainly mornings (9.00 - 11.00am) and
afternoons (1.00 - 4.00pm), as required, during term-time only.

This post is part of a pilot scheme testing a new Supporting Evidence Form in
place of the more usual ‘supporting statement’. You MUST submit a completed
Supporting Evidence Form in order for your application to be processed.
Covering letters, supporting statements and CVs will NOT form part of the
selection process. Please ensure that you carefully read the How to Apply
section provided in the Job Description, which you can download below along
with the required Supporting Evidence Form.

Only applications received before 12.00 midday on Friday 18 August 2017 can be
considered. Interviews are expected to take place Tuesday 5 September 2017.
