We are seeking a versatile and highly-motivated Librarian in Charge to oversee the day-to-day running of this busy Faculty library.</p><br> <p>As Librarian in Charge, you will manage the support staff of the library and ensure the provision of high-quality reader service. You will support the English and Film Studies Librarian in collection development and stock management, including management of the library&#8217;s ongoing re-classification project.</p><br> <p>This post involves some lone working evening and weekend working and some lifting, carrying and moving of books.</p><br> <p>You will have a degree in library/information science or a relevant academic discipline, and have a proven ability to manage and develop reader services, ideally in a university/academic library. With excellent interpersonal and communications skills, you will have experience both of managing staff effectively and of working flexibly and collaboratively in and across teams.</p><br> <p>This is a full-time, fixed-term maternity cover post and is anticipated to be for a period of 9 months from January 2018.</p><br> <p>Please discuss secondments with your line manager in the first instance, as you must have their agreement that you can be released for a secondment before you submit an application.</p><br> <p>Owing to the nature of this post, the successful candidate will be required to undertake a Disclosure Scotland check as well as a financial background check. The possession of a criminal record or poor financial background will not necessarily prevent an applicant from obtaining this post, as all cases are judged individually according to the nature of the role and information provided.</p><br> <p>You will be required to upload a supporting statement as part of your online application.
