<div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <p></p><p>The Oxford University Big Data Institute (BDI) is a new interdisciplinary research centre aiming to develop, evaluate and deploy efficient methods for acquiring and analysing biomedical data at scale and for exploiting the opportunities arising from such studies. The Nuffield Department of Population Health (NDPH), a key partner in the BDI, contains world-renowned population health research groups and is an excellent environment for multi-disciplinary teaching and research.</p><br> <p>As a Research Assistant you will join a team developing our understanding of Staphylococcus aureus pathogenesis using a combination of RNA sequencing and genome wide association studies, complemented by biochemical and immunological assays of bacterial behaviour. Your duties will include designing and managing microbiological protocols, pursuing new research projects into bacteria molecular genetics, analysing data, writing reports and presenting findings to colleagues.</p><br> <p>To be considered, you will have a PhD in a relevant subject or (equivalent experience) and a first degree or equivalent in microbiology, immunology, genetics, biochemistry or another relevant subject. You will also require experience in designing protocols, culture of microorganisms and basic immunological techniques, including EIA as well as excellent interpersonal and time management skills.</p><br> <p>Informal enquiries should be addressed to Dr Daniel Wilson (<a rel="nofollow" href="mailto:daniel.wilson@ndph.ox.ac.uk">daniel.wilson@ndph.ox.ac.uk</a>).</p><br> <p>The position is full-time (part-time considered) and fixed-term for 1 year.
