Part-time Document Delivery Assistant

Applications for this vacancy closed on 31 August 2018 at 12:00PM
We are looking for a Document Delivery Assistant to work in the Inter-Library
Request section within Document Delivery Services. Working closely with other
members of the Document Delivery Services team you will process inter-library
requests from Bodleian card holders for material not held in Oxford libraries
and manage requests from UK and international libraries for Bodleian material.
The Bodleian Libraries are, unsurprisingly, a net lender of interlibrary
requests. In 2015/16 the team processed over 7,000 requests from other
libraries.

Your post will form part of a restructure following the launch of an online
form to enable Bodleian readers to order and pay for inter-library requests
online. Requests have previously been submitted by paper forms completed in
long hand so the online form provides a significant service enhancement for
the Oxford academic community.

In addition to inter-library loan support you will provide bibliographic
searching support for the Scan and Deliver team based at the Book Storage
Facility. You will also provide administrative support for co-ordinating the
University of Oxford’s annual return for items copied under the Copyright
Licensing Agency licence.

You will be customer focused and have the ability to work accurately with high
attention to detail. You will have excellent bibliographic searching skills in
order to hunt down copies of hard-to-find material not held by Oxford
Libraries. Excellent communication skills are required to liaise with UK and
international libraries and with the Oxford academic community. Before
processing requests we need to verify whether Oxford holds a copy so an
understanding of library resource discovery tools and familiarity with
bibliographic searching across a range of databases is essential.

This is a permanent post, working part-time, 18.25 hours per week (0.5 FTE),
preferably spread over 5 days.

This role requires lifting and moving books and library materials and pushing
trolleys.

You will be required to upload a supporting statement as part of your online
application. Your supporting statement should list each of the essential and
desirable selection criteria, as listed in the job description, and explain
how you meet each one. CVs will not be considered.

Only applications received before 12.00 midday on Friday 31 August 2018 can be
considered. Interviews are expected to take place on Monday 17 September 2018.
